Quta'wo Qhonda

Crystal. Goblin. Central Time.

“Evil begins when you begin to treat people as things.”
- Esme Weatherwax (paraphrased)

rules & ooc.

  1. IC is not OOC and vice-versa. I'm not my character. Obvious, but it bears repeating. I'm taken IRL.

  2. I'm not looking for ERP, but I need you to be 21+. I'm open to dark and adult themes.

  3. I am VERY new to this RP thing.

  4. I love subtleties and miscommunication in character, but for OOC communication, please try to be clear and I'll do the same. I don't mean to sound demanding, but I really cannot emphasize this enough. Gaslighting = Block.

  5. Let's keep things plausibly within the confines of the story.

  6. I can be flexible, but I'm comfortable with in-game RP for conversational sessions and Discord.

OOC. 21+, he/himcentral time in the U.S. mostly available during the weekdays, but we can talk about it.Ideally, what I'm really looking for is friends to do content with, hang out with when not doing content, and some light RP during downtime. I enjoy playing the game and doing the story and talking about all things FF and other games as well.

personality.     Quta'wo had a bog standard Keeper of the Moon upbringing, meaning that he never knew his father and was raised in a village by his mother and other women until he was old enough to get booted out on his own.Perhaps unusually, there's not a great deal of trauma in his childhood. No loss of parents or friends, no need to "grow up fast" or anything like that. Because of that, he's a bit naive and is often late to the party, metaphorically speaking. Many people mistake his naivety for overly plain tastes.

Our story so far.
Quta'wo quickly determined that the poacher's life wasn't for him, largely due to preferring the company of the forest creatures to the Keeper men who did the poaching. He set off to make his fortune in the city and...that didn't work out so well.
He studied conjury in Gridania and did well, but not exceptionally so. His career as an adventurer was brief, reasonably successful, but not especially noteworthy. He settled in Ishgard as many of his friends lived there and decided to try his hand at writing. He published two works:"Duophony and the Modern Bard" - a theoretical treatise on the possibility of playing more than one note at a time."Female Miqo'te Adventurers-A Paradox"- a statistical abstract of the percentage of miqo'te women who had become adventurers. He determined that 146% of the population had taken up arms, suggesting his maths might be a bit off.Neither book sold well, although the later sold a few copies based on the misleadingly interesting title. He was swiftly dropped by his publisher and moved back to the Shroud, where he lives today. The interesting coda to this story is that he is apparently quite well off for no apparent reason. He still spends hours at his desk and goes through copious amounts of ink and paper, but the source of his coin and the destination of his work are largely unknown. In his travels, he came across a rodent of most unusual size, a capybara. He fell in loved with he gentle rodents and brought them home with him. He is now the Shroud's premier (read: only) producer of capybara pups.

hooks & plots.

Mediator of the Black Shroud
If you've ever been involved in disputes in the Shroud (a surprisingly common occurrence) and left with the feeling, "I don't like it, but it's fair", you may have encountered an over-dressed Miqo'te former adventurer who is friends with the elementals, the sylphs, and the other residents of the forest. Did he settle one of your disputes with the wood wailers?
Two Tails
Has a Miqo'te with two tails ever caught your eye before? Did you see him and wonder if there was some kind of story behind it? Some accident of birth, or maybe something more sinister? It might well have been Quta'wo. Buy him a drink (ok, coffee), and he might tell you the tale of his, um...tails.
Capybara Rancher
Quta'wo came across a capybara on his travels and became obsessed with them. He now raises them in the Shroud. He can often be found at aetherytes handing out the pups to new adventurers. Did he give one to you? Let him know how they're doing! Do you want a pup of your own? Odds are pretty good he has one (or more) to give.
Scars?
If you're close enough, you might see that his body is covered in scars. Old scars. Deep ones. He doesn't seem like the type to get involved in fights. Do they look familiar to you? A long figure trudging through Coerthas with something heavy and dark on their back? What's going on there? Are you sure you want to ask?
Failed (?) Author
As the author of some of the least-read tomes in Sharlayan's prodigious stores, perhaps you were intrigued by the dustiest book in the stacks. Or, as unlikely as it may seem, you were curious about why bards only play one note at a time on their lute. We you the one person who actually read it? Really? Let him know what you thought of his work.
Successful (?) Author
And yet, for a failed author, he sure seems to write a lot. Maybe you've seen him visiting the Haphazard House publishers' office in Ul'dah. Perhaps you've seen the deliveries of ink, quills, and paper to his home in the Lavender Beds. He seems reasonably well-off for a failed writer...
